Do the walls need a protective coating and is this included?
Yes, the walls need a protective clear coat applied after the art is completed. This coating protects the paint from UV rays and allows to you clean the walls without ruining the art. Sometimes younger patients end up drawing on the walls while they wait and this coating makes it easy to clean.
However, I don't have the skills to apply this coating without leaving drip lines or roller lines, so I don't do it. I recommend hiring a painting company. (I can recommend one.) This also allows you to schedule the work to better suit your office.
1
How long does each room take?
This can vary depending on the design, but it varies between 80 and 100 hours. With my part-time schedule, working mostly weekends, this accounts for about three to four weeks per room.
2
What do you paint with?
I use fine art acrylic paint. I find that this makes the artwork feel more like a big painting than standard wall paint.

What is your pricing?
My bids are per room, though I calculate this using a standard $20 per square foot rate. Prior to painting, I take measurements of the walls and bid out the room accordingly. For example, a 9'x9' wall would be $1,620. A room of this dimensions costs between $4,000 and $7,000 when accounting for windows, cabinets and doors.
That said, portraits within the mural are bid at a higher rate because they take much longer to paint. Learn more about pricing here.

Should I protect the walls?
Yes! Walls should be protected with a protective clear coat. This allows you to clean the wall without damaging the art.
But... I don't do this as part of my bid. In fact, I don't do this at all.
I can recommend a painting company to do this for you, but I lack the skillset to add the coating without creating drips and roll lines. I found that the finished product is much better when professional painters do the work.

Do you do other paintings?
I do. I'm currently working another website to showcase my oil paintings. I am available to do custom portraits or other artwork. Contact me for a commission.

Do you do outside murals?
I haven't done one yet, but I am interested. The style would be different, but I think it would be fun.
